Camp Like a Girl Scout
Use our packing lists to make sure your girl has everything she needs for a fun camp experience! As you pack, label everything with your camper’s first and last name.
Remember that camp is outdoors—think dirt, dust, and lots of outdoor fun—so clothes and shoes will get dirty. We do not have laundry facilities available for camper use, so you'll need to pack enough for your camper’s entire stay.
Please keep in mind that these are general packing lists. Upon registering for a camp, you will receive an e-mail with camp-specific items your girl might need.
*Mark everything with the camper’s first and last name!*
Dress and pack for the weather. Although it is summertime, Ohio weather can be unpredictable, and your camper will spend her time at camp outdoors. We have seen temperatures as low as the 40s and as high as the low 100s. For this reason, we recommend you send your camper with a sleeping bag rated for comfort down to 40 degrees or provide a blanket. Also, please ensure your camper has
at least one sweater or sweatshirt, one pair of pants, and both warm and cool pajamas. Comfortable campers are happy campers!
Sun exposure—We do everything we can to prevent campers from getting sunburned, but it still can happen. This is why we prohibit tops that expose campers’ shoulders. Please ensure any tank tops have wide straps. For this reason, we also recommend waterproof sunscreen with at least an SPF of 15 to 30. Please talk to your camper before camp about the importance of reapplying sunscreen regularly and frequently.
*Don’t forget your reusable water bottle!*
The above items should be labeled with your camper’s name and packed in a backpack or tote bag that your camper can carry.
Campers might do nature activities in the creek or need special supplies—we will send a notice home on the first day of camp informing parents of special items needed during the week.
This list should help you in preparing for camp. You may bring your clothes to camp in a duffle bag, trunk (footlocker), backpack, or whatever is convenient. Please note that dressers and chests of drawers are not available at camp. You will be provided with a bed and a mattress. You bring the rest! Remember to plan for warm days and cool evenings. Be prepared for a variety of weather conditions. Label each item with your name!
When packing for camp, place all belongings inside a large black garbage bag. Twist and tie the top closed and secure it with a rubber band or tie.

Pack medication containers in a plastic zip bag with the camper’s name printed in permanent ink on the bag. All medications, vitamins, and supplements must be in original containers with the doctor’s name, dosage, and any instructions clearly stated.
For resident camp, the camp health supervisor will keep medications, vitamins, ointments, etc., in the health center during camp. On trips, we will send medications, etc., with staff. Inhalers, EpiPens, and other necessary items will be kept with each camper as determined by the health supervisor and information on the Health History Form.
We have a supply of commonly used over-the-counter medicines, so sending these to camp is unnecessary. If you have a question about a specific medicine, please get in touch with us.
